We can’t think of a better herb to celebrate the festive season with than super sage, our #HerbOfTheMonth for December!
Sage pairs perfectly with pork and poultry dishes, and is essential when making your Christmas stuffing. To get you started, why not watch our video on how to make this Sage and Onion Stuffing – perfect for Christmas day, and so easy to make!
Sage also provides a lovely deep flavour, and is well suited all those hearty meals that we enjoy in the winter months, like casseroles, and roast dinner of course. If you fancy including sage in more of your festive dishes this month, like Sage Sausages with Roasted Red Onion Chutney for example, then check out our sage recipes section.
Sage can also be used to make herbal tea, which can calm your stomach and aid digestion – which will come in handy after some Christmas over-indulgence!
So remember, the next time you’re in the supermarket, pick up a pot of fresh sage, or a pack of fresh sage leaves to make sure you’ve got plenty to use in your festive feast! It’s so easy to keep fresh herbs in your kitchen, so they’re always on hand when you need to use them. You can keep a pot of fresh sage in a bright place like the kitchen windowsill for example, and water it sparingly – only when the top of the compost is dry to touch. If you’ve got a packet of fresh sage, then you just need to keep it in the fridge and make sure you give it a rinse under some cold water before you use it.
